8 Ways to Decrease Facebook Data and Battery Usage on iPhone
Apart from consuming huge amounts of space and data, the
Facebook app can also eat the batter and cause the iPhone to run at a slow
pace. To increase the performance of your iOS device, you need to make a few
adjustments in the settings. If you are worried about the constant battery
drain or the rising cellular data usage due to Facebook, then follow the steps
given below to reduce Facebook data and battery usage.
Tips to
prevent Facebook app from eating your iPhone's data and battery
Contrary to its Android counterpart, the Facebook app for
iOS does not have any Data Saver option in the menu.
1. Tap on the menu bar located in the lower right corner. Go
to Settings and Privacy and select Settings. Slide your finger upwards to
navigate to Notifications and select Notification settings. Disable the
notifications that are not significant, and then your Facebook app will consume
lesser data and power. If you get a lot of Facebook notifications, then it can
drain your battery significantly as the screen lights up whenever any
notification appears.
2. Now, navigate to the Media and contacts sections. Select
Videos and Photos located below Video Settings. Change the Auto-Play mode to Never
Auto-Play mode. This way, you can save up your data as the videos will not
start playing automatically. You will have to tap on a video to watch it.
3. Revisit the Media and Contacts section and choose Sounds.
Toggle the in-app sounds to Off position. This will help you in conserving your
battery juice as now your phone won't ping whenever you visit stuff in the
Facebook app.
4. Navigate to Upload contacts option and disable it. By
disabling this feature, you will not only bolster your privacy but also save
your data and battery.
5. Now, from your iPhone or iPad, launch the Settings app.
Scroll down and tap on Facebook. Just disable the Notification setting to mute
the application and prevent it from eating up your battery with trivial
notifications.
6. You can also disable the Background App Refresh feature
and prevent Facebook from running in the backdrop and consuming the device's
battery. You can refresh your Facebook app manually whenever you open it.
7. Open the Settings app on your iOS device and tap on
Mobile Data. See all the apps that are permitted to use cellular data and tap
on the bar next to Facebook to disable the access.
8. Scroll down and locate Wi-Fi Assist. This swaps from Wi-Fi to cellular data if the device considers it will be faster. Disable the feature to prevent your cellular data from being utilized. Applications will work over the Wi-Fi, even when the connection is slow.
